Spicy Braised Tofu (Dubu-jorim)

Ingredients:

  • 1 block of firm tofu, cut into small cubes
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 green onion, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame seeds

Instructions:

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a nonstick skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the cubed tofu to the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it is lightly browned on all sides.
  3. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sugar, rice wine or mirin, and minced garlic.
  4. Pour the sauce over the tofu in the skillet and stir well to coat the tofu evenly.
  5. Reduce the heat to low and let the tofu simmer in the sauce for 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened and the tofu is fully cooked.
  6. Sprinkle the chopped green onion, sesame oil, and sesame seeds over the top of the tofu, and stir well to combine.
